The ‘Vigneron Select’ is a true reserve quality blend taken from the three highest-rated barrels of wine in our program each year. Steve Pepe, Chanda Hagen and Wes Hagen taste and rate every barrel before blending, and we mark our three favorite barrels to be blended into the Vigneron Select. This year’s Vigneron Select shows all the dusty blackberry, blueberry and strawberry fruit character, richness and complexity of the ‘regular blend’ with a slightly larger hit of new French Oak (Troncais forest). The barrels chosen show Steve’s insistence that the ‘VS’ is the most balanced and complex wine we make. Steve loves persistence in the finish and great age-worthiness, and we think you’ll agree that the 2006 Vigneron Select fits those criteria perfectly. Lay it down for at least 5 years…please! 14.5% alcohol, 3.36 pH at 7.2 grams of acid.
